Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Voice Unlock ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the App on your Android device. By installing or using the App, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
The App is developed and maintained by Voice Unlock. You can reach us at nguyenthaovcat@gmail.com.
2. Information collected on your device
The App functions as a custom lock screen. The following information is created and stored only on your device and never transmitted to us:
- Voice phrase recording & voiceprint features — captured to recognize your spoken unlock phrase. Stored locally using Android's encrypted DataStore.
- PIN and Pattern — stored as a one-way cryptographic hash (not the original value).
- App preferences — theme, language, lock-screen settings, sensitivity, and similar configuration.
- Unlock history — local-only record of successful and failed unlock attempts to display the recent activity timeline inside the App.
None of the above leaves your device. We have no server, no account, and cannot access your voice, PIN, pattern, or unlock history.
3. Information collected automatically by third-party SDKs
The App uses a small number of Google-provided libraries to display advertising and to detect crashes. Each of these collects limited technical information directly from your device and sends it to Google, governed by their own privacy policies:
3.1 Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
Used to show banner, interstitial, and app-open ads. AdMob may collect: advertising ID, approximate IP-based location, device model, OS version, language, and ad interaction events. In regulated regions (European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and certain US states), the App displays a consent form through Google's User Messaging Platform before any personalized ad is served. You can change your choice at any time via Settings → Privacy → Privacy choices within the App. See: Google Ads Policy.
3.2 Firebase Crashlytics
Collects crash reports when the App quits unexpectedly. Reports include the device model, OS version, App version, and the technical stack trace at the moment of the crash. Reports are anonymized and never contain your voice phrase, PIN, pattern, or unlock history.
3.3 Firebase / Google Analytics
Collects basic, aggregated usage events (e.g., screen views, App lifecycle events) so we can understand which features are used. Google's Firebase Privacy Policy applies.
4. Permissions and how they are used
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — required to listen for your unlock phrase. Audio is processed on-device only.
- Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — required to show the lock screen on top of the system UI.
- Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_*) — required so the lock screen can be presented when your device wakes.
- Boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — required to re-enable the lock screen after a device restart.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — used to display the ongoing "Lock is active" indicator.
- Biometric (USE_BIOMETRIC) — optional backup unlock with fingerprint.
- Phone state (READ_PHONE_STATE) — used only to pause the lock screen when an incoming call arrives.
- Network (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — required by the AdMob and Firebase SDKs above.
- Advertising ID (AD_ID) — used by AdMob to limit ad frequency and to honor your "limit ad tracking" device setting.
5. Children
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Data retention & deletion
Local data (voice, PIN, pattern, preferences, unlock history) is retained on your device until you reset it from within the App, clear the App's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the App. Crash and analytics data held by Google is governed by their retention policies.
7. Your choices
- Ad personalization: Settings → Privacy → Privacy choices.
- Disable the lock screen: Settings → Enable lock (toggle off).
- Remove voice / PIN / pattern: re-open the corresponding setup screen and clear.
- Wipe all App data: Android Settings → Apps → Voice Unlock → Storage → Clear data.
- Limit ad tracking: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the App's release notes on Google Play.
